UNITY:
Each design element has a perfect relationship between eachother because there is similarity, continuity, alignment and proximity.The use of main elements for different functions in different scales brings the unity to the space.
ORDER:
There is also symettrical order in the space and repetation of the main elements in different scales.Mezannine floor is the dominant part of the design.And this dominant part define a big scale of space and function.You can see it in a red color in plan view.
Harmony:
The elements of the design has physical and visual completeness with the use of size color shape texture and form in the best way.By Repeating the elements, balancing them through out the space and adding some varieties I created the sense of harmony in the space.
CONTRAST:
Each elements are related to each other but to differentate them I used contrast colors black and white which make emphasis on different surfaces.There is also directional contrast.You can see the same element used both horizontal and vertical in different colors.
RHYTHM AND REPETATION:
The elements of the design repeats themselves in various parts of the design.Each of them is related to eachother.There is regular rhythm on elements of the suspended ceiling.
The main elements of the space are vertical linear elements and horizantal linear elements.I want to start from the 1st picture as it shown above.The black vertical linear elements are existings columns and horizantal linear elements in white color are suspended ceiling.If we consider the horizantal elements as a whole they are overhead plane which define the accessories area and the void proportion on the ceiling was designed to get the artificial lighting from the existing ceiling.And the wall behind the columns is single vertical plane which was organized to display the accessories on the wall surface.
In the second picture we are seeing the same organization of linear element.The organization of the seperator next to the cash area ıs occured with vertical linear and horizantal linear elements but the element itself used vertically to seperate the spaces.
In the 3rd and 4th pictures there are black surfaces on the floor which are defining different functions.They are base plane which help to define functional zone. The mezzanine floor is elevated base plane and also overhead plane from ground floor.
The general organization of the space have been designed with regular shapes and forms.The linear elements in the space are result of the dimensional transformation of cube by stretching out the cube into a linear element.It is also possible to say there is a subtractive transformation on the elements of the suspended ceiling and seperator walls.For instance, if we consider the whole shape of the ceiling, we can perceive that some parts are subtrected from a rectangle plane and by this way I had semi open ceiling organization.
The spatial organization of the space is linear organization. we can see space within space in the 3rd picture.
there is also adjacent spaces in this design. It is easy to see these areas on the plan view. Some spaces doesn’t have any relationship to each other.
The openıngs on the suspended ceılıng gıve skylıght effect into the space.As you see in the second picture, the seperator wall has openings which has physical boundary between spaces but also has visual relationship which enable you to gain security control.In the 4th picture there are some openings on the wall surfaces which was settled on eye level to have contact and interaction between different sections of the space.There are also vertical openings for entrance and to provide circulation in the space
My main approach to the circulation is to create easy observable circulation paths which also connect the spaces to eachother.There is a main entrance in the space and each function is located on this main axe which start from entrance.The general organization of the circulation is in U shaped.You can perceive it from plan view.There is a stairway for mezzanine floor and sub-spaces in the main space.The circulation is provided with coridors between these spaces.The general approach of the design is to create open plan organization that is why there is a physical and visual relationship and interaction between the spaces.And the main Circulation continue around the main space which is located in the middle section of the space.It is shown in yellow color at the middle of the plan view.
